Blessed

By jayjackadoption

We ARE so blessed to have such wonderful friends! Thank you everyone, and Dan & Melanie for your latest encouraging words. It was a warm day today. The children were in their undershirts and under wear (with shoes, socks and hats, of course!.) I got some video of them playing with the other kids in the sandbox. Sorry, I will not be broadcasting that on the blog.

The children are more & more comfortable with us. Today Anna said “Momma please” w/o me prompting her, when she wanted something. Warren’s favorite phrase is “uh oh.”  What a blessing it was today when they all see that we have come to visit- Anna says loudly ‘Mamma!’ and they all come running to give me hugs…Poor Nick I have to tell them to hug him–except for Anna. Nick & Anna are forming a wonderful relationship already. It will come with the boys, I’m positive of that. All the children are just used to women around, not men.

Today we had a big blessing when both of us were longing for home…I said kiddingly ’Nick, why don’t we just have Thai delivered tonight.”  He wasn’t happy about that remark, knowing there is nothing here like that. We tried a restaurant called ‘Western’ and it was delicious! I’ve been longing for broccoli and it was on the menu! (I have not seen that in the grocery stores or the market). We both had grilled pork with bacon, too. That was the closest thing to american food we’ve had here. We’ll go again!

What no McDonalds? It won’t take long before the kids no the golden arches quite well. Remember, just like a marathon….it is the last mile or two that are the toughest. Keep praising God for the blessings He has provided. Keep interceding against the evil one who would even now try to discourage you.

I sometimes call it: “Working on your testimony”. It won’t be long and the difficulties of this process will be a faint shadow in the bright light of the joy that is the Jayjack 5!

Hi, I just found your blog. Congratulations on getting through court and being the parents of 3 beautiful children! It’s an adventure in Ukraine, isn’t it? We have been home for 2 months now with our 12yo daughter. I noticed that Los Ninos is your agency. Do you happen to live in TX? Los Ninos is in our neighborhood. Maybe they have other locations I don’t know about.

Best wishes for a speedy process,
    June

    Hi June,

Thanks for wishing us well! The Ukraine has been and still is an adventure, that’s for sure! But from what I’ve heard, we’ve had it relatively easy. It’s been similar to being at home except for the language barrier, which of course, is a huge issue. But all in all, we’re very grateful for how well everything is going. We hit a little homesickness going into our 5th week here, but that’s past us now and we’re enjoying the area again.

We actually live in Virginia. We heard about Los Ninos through another adoption/homestudy agency in Virginia.

Congratulations on your adoption as well!

    Bill and Deb,

We do have a McDonald’s here in Cherkasay. I was hitting it pretty hard for a couple of days much to Polly’s chagrin (I have a weakness for a Filet-O-Fish sandwich….or two), but lately we’ve been eating in or dining at a restaurant called the “Western.” The food is unbelievably good! The food and ambiance inside the place is very much like an Outback Steakhouse, except that meal portions are smaller (i.e., more reasonably sized, in my opinion) and much, much cheaper. We can eat a full dinner there for less than $20!!!! The restaurant is decorated inside like any other American restaurant, which has worked wonders curing our homesickness.

    Nick
