Got a call from our Facilitator. We will not be able to get the remaining paperwork that has to be done in Cherkassay(birth certificates & passports) until Monday, not Saturday as hoped. The Dept of vital statistics is closed. So hopefully Monday will work out(oh please God!). We will find out for sure some time on Thursday. We are disappointed in the news. Don’t think we can handle any more 2 and 3 day delays -even a 1 day delay is too long!
We are soooooooooooooo ready to come home–eventhough it is blazing hot in DC! We’ve enjoyed perfect weather. Cool breezes, highs in the upper 70s, low 80s.

Polly and Nick,
You can do It! You’re almost there. You have your kids and the hardest part is behind you. Now it’s just remaining paperwork. Look how far you’ve come! A month ago you weren’t even parents. Just a few more days. Everyone back here is so excited for you and a month from now this will all be a memory.
A few more days…. you can do it … your children will start a whole new life … The plane ride alone will be an adventure as will the airport….
God Bless!

Hang in there, Polly & Nick. It has got to be so hard to wait the few extra days — especially since you’ve already been away a month. In spite of that, there is always something good God is doing in the background when he has us wait. It makes me think of your 2 1/2, almost 3 year, wait for these children — and look how beautifully he has provided for you! Amen to what Sue said — look how far you’ve already come!
Take advantage of these last few days you have there to really soak in the culture — your children will thank you for it later. As much as we are all grateful for our American homeland, our adopted children will want to know about their roots at some point. And definitely rest up while you can. Some say the hard part is behind you and regarding the process that’s true, but we all know the “real” hard part is still to come — it’s in raising our children for the Lord and being good stewards of these wonderful gifts God has given us. Though the adoption process itself was very grueling, it had its purpose. It was to prepare for what’s to come and believe it or not, a year from now, you won’t even remember how hard it was.
These 3 beautiful children are so blessed to have you for parents. And they are a treasure God has entrusted you with while on earth. He has wonderful plans for all of you! We are so happy for you and continuously pray for you and your new family. God speed! We pray you come home quickly and safely!
P.S. What are their weights? (kilos is fine)

Polly and Nick:
Dan and Melanie have “verbalized” my thoughts all along during your time there, “Take advantage of these last few days you have there to really soak in the culture — your children will thank you for it later. As much as we are all grateful for our American homeland, our adopted children will want to know about their roots at some point”
I’m sure you, too, have that in mind. Relax and enjoy.
Love,
Mom T.

Hey folks,
Just want to echo some of what Melanie said about soaking in your surroundings. Take lots of pictures, esp of things you might not normally consider, like the orphanage–inside and out, cars, people, houses, etc. When you get to the region the kids are from, pick up some souvenirs native to their home area, like books with photos of the region, those decorative Ukranian ‘eggs’, etc. Ask your facilitator for ideas. And be sure to write down your personal thoughts, feelings, all God has done. Because someday, before you realize it, Ukraine will be a distant memory. Your kids will appreciate all you can tell and show them about where they came from one day when they’re old enough to understand. You guys represent all they’re likely to know of their land of birth.
I remember when we were on the plane leaving Russia, I was feeling a little sad that Peter & Luke were leaving the only home they had known. But the Lord said to me, ‘No, they’re going home’. In the same way, Anna, Warren, and Corey Jayjack will soon be on their way home. How blessed you all are. God is amazing. Looking forward to your return. ‘Fight the good fight, finish the race, keep the faith.’
And Nick, want to wish you a first Happy Father’s Day w/ many more to come.
